Sequence / structure
Cyclic melanocortin receptor agonist derived from α-MSH (Melanotan II analogue without the tanning emphasis).
Regulatory status
FDA-approved drug

Indications & what it's studied for

Approved for low sexual desire in premenopausal women; acts centrally on melanocortin receptors. Off-label community use targets libido/erectile response in men.

Contraindications & cautions

Uncontrolled hypertension or known cardiovascular disease (it can raise BP); pregnancy.

Commonly reported dosing

Reported, not recommended. The following describes what appears in research literature and community use. It is not a protocol, and unapproved peptides have no validated human dosing.

Approved use is an on-demand subcutaneous dose ahead of anticipated activity, with a daily/monthly maximum.

Routes of administration

Subcutaneous injection; intranasal forms exist in grey markets.

Don't combine with

Avoid stacking with Melanotan I or II (overlapping melanocortin effects); caution with antihypertensives and other BP-active drugs.

Reported to stack with

No validated stacking; combining melanocortin agonists increases side-effect risk.
Note: "stacking" combines multiple agents and multiplies unknowns; popularity of a combination is not evidence of its safety.

What the research actually shows

Phase 3 trials (RECONNECT) support the approved indication; cardiovascular/BP effects are well documented.
