Retatrutide
Metabolic / triple agonist
Status & caution. Not approved anywhere. In Phase 3 (TRIUMPH program). Sold heavily on the grey market as 'research only' despite no human-use authorization. An unapproved investigational drug. Glucagon-receptor activity can raise heart rate and affect glucose handling; long-term safety is unestablished.
At a glance
Indications & what it's studied for
Studied for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and fatty liver. The added glucagon-receptor activity increases energy expenditure on top of appetite suppression.
Contraindications & cautions
No established human-use labelling exists. Trial exclusions and the GLP-1 class warnings (thyroid C-cell, pancreatitis) are the practical reference points.
Commonly reported dosing
Reported, not recommended. The following describes what appears in research literature and community use. It is not a protocol, and unapproved peptides have no validated human dosing.
Trial doses escalate over months. No approved dosing exists; grey-market 'protocols' are extrapolations, not validated.
Routes of administration
Subcutaneous injection (as used in trials).
Don't combine with
Other incretin/glucagon agonists; insulin/sulfonylureas; anything where elevated heart rate is risky.
Reported to stack with
No legitimate stacking guidance — it is itself a multi-target agent still under study.
Note: "stacking" combines multiple agents and multiplies unknowns; popularity of a combination is not evidence of its safety.
What the research actually shows
Phase 2 results showed large dose-dependent weight loss; Phase 3 TRIUMPH trials are ongoing to define long-term safety and efficacy.
